i must admit, i was kinda looking forward to see a forth race, just for a little more diversity. but after seeing the gameplay vid. i think i can deal :D lol

so lets take the 4th into our own hands, what do u guys thibk? if there would have been a 4th race, what do think it should've/could've been?

sc2 looks amazing, but if sc2 came with a new race... it would be soooooo much better!

Doesnt matter what the new race is, i just was really looking forward to seeing a new race with completely new powers. That would have been cool

I AGREE I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED A NEW RACE, BUT THE GAME IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION THEY SAID REMEMBER.I WONDER WHAT THEY WILL LOOK LIKE?IAM NOT JUST QUOTING THE ARRIVAL.

4th Race

THERE MIGHT STILL BE A 4TH RACE THE GAME IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION, AND IF THERE WAS I THINK EVERYONE WOULD AGREE IT SHOULD BE OF THE SAME ORDER AND FAMILY AS THE ALIENS RESPONSIBLE 4 ABDUCTING HUMANS AND PERFORMING IMPLANTS AND INTRUSIVE PROCEDURES.IT COULD BE ANY SPECIES OF THIS ATTRACTIVE FAMILY OF ALIENS HELPFUL TO THE HUMAN SPECIES.SPECIES OF THIS ALIEN WOULD DILINIATE COLOR.EXAMPLE BROWN ALIEN, MED SIZED PITCH BLACK EYES ,TALL FRAME, SMALL NOSE AND MOUTH,OR GREY ALIEN MEDIUM HEIGHT, LARGE BLACK EYES, LONG FACE SLENDER FACE.

Blizzard clearly stated they're only going for 3 playable races in Starcraft II. I'm guessing there's also going to be some Xel'Naga and/or hybrid units for the single player Campaign, but that's it.

Time will declare me victor.

I have to agree with Freespace here.

But if there were a new race, I would not want it to be the Xel'Naga and their Hybrids, but a new race created by them that has just surfaced... Purity of form, purity of essence, and now... purity of <insert noun here>?

Well we've got the human species, the beast species and the advanced alien/robotic species. Only science fiction cliche that's missing here is having some rogue artificial intelligence come along and screw everyone over.

3 is a good number. I can only imagine how much harder it would make things if you added just one more race. You suddenly have to redesign all of the other races so that they a way to counter every unit from all three other races. In Warcraft all of the races were exactly the same with a different look for each kind of unit. You had your small melee, your small ranged, your small support, your small air, your big melee, etc. That's not how Starcraft works (And thank goodness for that!). They have to design each race from scratch using an entirely different premise and STILL make them all equivalent. So adding one race means designing 3 forms of interaction for it, as well as another form of interaction for each other race. And all of this on top of designing a new building/food/fighting style from nothing.

we arnt talking from a gameplay perspective, i meant it purley fictional, as a flavor adder...

i was thinking some kind of avian race, if you look at the humans as mammals and the protoss as reptiles, that leaves the zerg as a mostly insectoid/arachnid race, and there are no birds. a mainly flying race with a couple of flightless warriors? maybe due to heavy armor?

idk, i liked avens from mtg...

If there are to be Hybrids in SCII they will purely be campaign units only. At least until an expansion...

I don't know. The Xel'Naga are all gone, supposedly. Wouldn't it be funny to discover the Xel'Naga to truly be a defected organization of human biological engineers? Who else can create such life forms?

Yeah, he was definately referencing them. If you look at the fan art on the Starcraft II website (in the fan art trailer) you can see a large creature contained in a stasis chamber: Possibly the creature Duran was referencing.
I was always just curious if Humans could somehow fit into the whole Xel'Naga creation thing somehow.

Poor Terran our lonely human race. Only one to exsist rather than be created. Uh oh, lets not drag this into a Theology discussion. Were talking starcraft not life here.
