Introduction: The Unknown Cause

What am I? Am I mere figment of imagination, or something else? Why do I feel this way? Am I suffocating on my own dreams? Why do this thoughts surge through my mind? Too many questions…

Hearing the large crash outside, he immediately sat straight up in bed. Drenching his thin framed body, the sweat trickled down him as he gazed at the horrid site out the window. The skies were engulfed in flames as an endless supply of objects began to fall from the heavens above. Every time the objects hit the ground a small explosion could be heard and then a bright light emitting from them. Soon after the light disappeared, the very structures of the nearby buildings could be seen disintegrating. Listening even closer to the sounds of the explosions, the boy could hear the faint sounds of pleading. Soon after, a chilling shrieking sound could be heard, then silence.

“What in the world is happening? What is going on?” He asked allowed as he continued to be in shock. Looking down at his hands, he could see a small insignia that appeared before him. Taking a quick glance at it, the believe tattoo evaporated. His lips let loose more words as he looked up, “What in damnation is going on?”

Quickly lifting up the covers, he put his legs on the solid ground below him. The sounds of screams and pleads continued to fill the air, moving closer and closer. His ears perked as he heard a scream coming from the hallway to his room. His hands trembled as he reached for the doorknob before grasping it. With a small twist, he peered out the crack that he created. His eyes began to water as he saw the figure of his mother hit the cold hard floor, blood leaving her body. Soon, a shadow could be seen hovering above the dead mother. The boy’s eyes turned to fear as he slammed the door, his back pressing hard against it. “T-this…can’t….be…real....,” he told himself with a petrified voice, “No…way….in…hell….”

With a loud thump, the door slammed against the back of his body. A moan could be heard from the other side, one which was neither human nor animal. The boy glanced around the room, looking for someway to get out of the enclosed room that he was trapped in. His eyes motioned back and forth as he could not find anywhere to go. The only thing he could escape from was the window, yet it was too high to go anywhere. His eyes motioned and looked out at the city. The flames seem to have subsided as the whole city seemed to be in crumbles. His eyes widened before he passed out on the cold hard floor of his bedroom.
