just curious since I've been looking at old items and games for the SNES/GB/Sega Genesis..

would anyone buy old games for those systems if they had them lying around? or does anyone here plan on doing that or mabye already does?

I myself have just recently bought a few items and games for the SNES. I'm thinking of getting all the FF games for the SNES and MK series.

mabye I'm just crazy and wasting money on old things.. I don't know.. since my SNES and Genesis are still lying around probably working still. Will be testing them out this weekend.

So any inputs on this matter or have your own story?

I think it's a pretty good idea. I just stick to emulating all of those older systems though. It's easier, since some of the discs/cartridges can be really hard to find... and it's free too. Some of the old, rare games are sometimes sold for $100 or more!

I wouldn't bother with the original Game Boy though. Just get a Game Boy Color. if I remember correctly, they can play the original Game Boy games. You might want to look that up for confirmation though... or I will.

UPDATE: Just checked. The GBC does play original Game Boy games.

yeah I have a new game boy color.. when I bought it.. i only used it mabye 10 times.. it practically looks new still.

I would use romz etc.. and I have.. but romz doesn't = the same fun as having a snes with a snes controller and a huge tv. Also I noticed sometimes emulators crash or don't function 100% and I rather have cousins over playing on a tv, rather than pc fopr 2-4 player games..

but yes I am collected some rare SNES games.. some aren't too expensive.. like super mario RPG.. quite rare.. but I might have one soon within a few days. I just hope I'm not wasting money on them though...

I wonder if they would be worth anything in the future? long term that is.. if I have a working mint SNES with all games working..

same with a sega genesis and old skol gameboy and GBC.

another reason why I dislike emulators.. controls are not the same.. I'd rather use a SNES controller than a keyboard.. I agree cartridges are hard to find.. but I just saw 100 games and SNES system just sell for $1000 on ebay...

don't get me wrong.. emulators are great and it's free, but not the same thing.. I'd rather play the real stuff. Also, I've seen my emulator freeze a few times.. or the game file is corrupt in some form.. where in a REAL games, you wouldn't have that.. especially with a cartridge.

I use a PS2 pad to play all my PC games >_> got a PS2->USB converter.

As for the subject of buying old systems..nah, nothing wrong with it at all. If that's the era of gaming you enjoyed the most and want to revisit it, more power to you. Just don't go bankrupt building a gigantic library of games <_<

The local Ebgames and Gamestops have tons of SNES and Nes and some Genesis games for about like $1-$5. I've picked up some that I don't have (FF1, I have 2-12, but not 1.. except for now.)

Go to local game stores and also check neighbors if they have any old games.

Yeah, Zayne has a good idea there. Check nearby game stores.

There's a store at a nearby mall here that sells all kinds of old and used games, DVDs, CDs, and other things... they even games from the original atari. And they even have some of the old consoles for sale too.

Not one of the game stores had any? That sucks... Make sure you didn't miss any stores. But yeah, check the flea market. You might find something there.

Most stores here keep the latest stuff... im sure "some" places might have a few.. but there aren't too many gaming stores here..

also flea markets.. chances are low I think, sinc eI asked some people who visit and haven't found anything for SNES.

I have been doing this lately as well. I usually stick around ebay and sometimes you can find pretty good deals. I could kick myself in the ass for selling half of my SNES games and old playstation games. The systems I am working on getting all the good games for our snes, n64, playstation and playstation 2.

It's been awhile since I've seen a good deal on ebay now.

Once in awhile you get lucky.
