Good old fashion rushing... but no heros?!

warcraft 3 introduced 'heros', which could gain more experience and become stronger by fighting in more battles. I felt this made the player a lot more patriotic towards his army... it made a closer bond between the hero, and its master.

Blizzard has said that there wont be any heros in sc2, just good old fashion rushes. But i really think having heros in sc2 would have added a favourable twist to how the game is played. Although heros take a lot of time to 'manage', they add a personal touch to the game, dont you think?

Im sure it wont take long after release, before someone builds an sc2 dota :D

I'm sure there still will be heroes in Starcraft II, in the way there were heores in Starcraft I, but without the level-up and stuff.

In a way, I agree with Blizzard's decision. Starcraft is faster and you don't have time to micromanage heroes on the battlefield.

The hero system in Warcraft is what sets it apart from Starcraft in the rts world. If Starcraft had the same hero system there would be far too much focus on the heroes and the system of designing a well-balanced army would be overridden.

At least that's my opinion, but we'll never know until it's out, right?

I agree.. I would be very disappointed had blizzard put in lvling up heroes in sc2.

heroes were what ruined warcraft 3:(

what i enjoyed most about starcraft (and warcraft 2 for the matter) was when u can simply build a lot of zealots and watch them in glorious combat against zerglings and not worry about what spell you or your hero would cast. if starcraft 2 is making heroes with special abilities, i would not buy it.

As we have said, I don't think there is any need to worry about heroes in SCII. The game has always been and always will be a game about masses and uses little micromanagement. The extent of your heroes will most likely be that of Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, and Zeratul.

Any more spells that they already have and this game will get far too tedious. I can understand 2-3 units with abilities like the queens, high templars, and science vessels. But really, the fewer the better.

i liked Heroes in warcraft III but that better be where thay stay, it kinda ruind the rts style gameplay, because no matter what kind of unit combos and strategies u had, if they had a good hero backing up ur army, and u diddnt, u lost. so it eventually devolved into haha! my hero is higher lvl than urs. not to mention ur hero kinda decided ur strat for u, for example, if u got a dreadlord w/ vampiric aura, u went melee not ranged.

if heroes apeared in sc2 id kill someone. (figuratively, dont call the internet fuzz)

lol.

yeah, the problem with warcraft 3 was that it was all about heroes, meaning it was all about creeping before your enemies can. which means you cant concentrate on unit balance and upgrades

Yeah, you seriously have to be on amphetamenes to keep up with all of that micro-management. It is incredible to watch pros pull it off, but I think I'd give myself a heart attack before I could ever do that.

You play that game for a few hours and then go back to something you thought was beautiful (like Resident Evil 4) and it looks like shit... Curse you Gears of War and your next-gen graphics! I only hope Starcraft II has a similar effect.
