Guess the release date

I've seen a lot of people say that they think it's going to be released around this time next year, so that it will be exactly 10 years after the original.

But nobody really knows. As far as I can tell from the gameplay video, it's very far along indeed. Almost done, perhaps. Which leads me to believe the release date will be sooner rather than later.

My slightly educated guess is November 20th, 2007.

well if blizzard is smart, they will want to do a pre-christmas release to get more sales... having said that, they have such a huge fanbase that they dont really need a seasonal event to encourage sales.

Blizzard normally go for a pre-christmas or a summer release... So im guessing 1st December 2007

I second that. But I had to guess I would say Q4 this year. Like Xionn said.. looks pretty finished in the video.

well the consensus on the net seems to be mid to late 2008. I think it really depends on how Blizzard is approaching this... if they intend to do a public beta, which they normally do, then it will more than likely be mid to late 2008; because by the time they release the beta, then receive feedback for it, then implement changes based on the feedback etc. etc. its gonna take many many months!

I had read that they claimed to have fully playable versions of every race and were only working on the balancing now...

I find this hard to believe. If this were true, we would have seen SOME form of zerg buildings, hydralisks, or at least creep by now...

Just because we haven't seen more of the Zerg, doesn't mean they're not done. Remember Blizzard's style, they like to pull our legs and tease us.

They've kept the Zerg in the shadows, so that they have something to catch our interest with in a few months. I'm certain all units and races are complete, for goodness' sake, they've been working on the game since 2003.

Balancing is a delicate aspect, though, so I'm sure they'll take their sweet time doing it. Earliest I'd say the game is launched would be October, but it may be delayed as far as late 2008.

You're right... if there's one thing blizzard knows how to do it is build up hype for a new game.

Throw us a freaking bone! Just another update on the SCII website will keep me satisfied for... an hour.

i would say anything would counter the mothership when its energy is down. before that...feedback or lockdown?

The issue with the mothership is that it can be so devastating before it is actually destroyed that it may cause vastly more resources worth of damage to the enemy than it is worth (more than the average unit does per cost anyways). It must cost a lot. A lot a lot.

well duh...but think about it, its basically only an overcharged phoenix when its energy is out...im guessing that a squad of marines could finish it after its energy is out

Just how many attacks does that Mothership have anyway? Has anyone counted it? It looked like two at a time at a fast rate to me, but I could be wrong.

same i dont think thats 'some devestating force' tho...it doesnt look impressive and it seems to take more than 4 hits to kill a marine. with the much larger numbers we are seeing in sc2, thats horrible.
