Love Story: A Poem
Where we met was our place of work.
I was a waitress, you a soda jerk.
You were cute, but I thought
spoiled and rich,
As for me, well you thought me a witch.
We each soon realized, the other was nice.
We became friends, that would suffice.
As time passed, our friendship
blossomed and grew.
I enjoyed talking, laughing, and
just being with you.
You called me "Hair",
and I called you "Nerd,"
only for lack of a better, more loving word.
Ever so slowly, you became my best friend.
Our discussions, it seemed, never came
to an end.
I don't know if was destiny, luck, or just fate,
but a few months later we started to date.
Then one day we moved into our first
apartment,
where we soon discovered, we hated to
pay rent.
About a year later we moved to our
brand new home.
We had our house, and Kodi a yard in
which to roam.
One night you took me to dinner at
the Spagetti Company.
Where you spoke those magic words,
"Will you marry me?"
A year went past after you put that ring
on my hand,
then next to it you put our wedding band.
It's at the joining of our lives that this
poem will end.
Always remember, you're my endless
love, and my best friend.
