Well as you may or may not know all people follow morals, things they will do, or won't do. My question is what makes these morals and why do we follow them?

Let me start off by saying I'm glad the debates board is finally up. Morals is something I can't really debate(poor white people don't have morals), but I'll try to give my best opinion.

From most standpoints(atleast to my understanding), Christianity was a pretty early basis for what was right and what was wrong. There had been ideas before, but Christianity lays it all out, what we should and should not do; you know, no adultery, no killing, that shit. Morals can be learned also from other media outputs, including movies and television shows, and even video games. Grand Theft Auto taught me never to allow a snitch to walk free ;) now that's morally just. No, but being the type of person I am, a constant battle for me is moral vs. legal consequences, and the latter is normally worse than the former for me. I'm a heartless, soulless person and I'm beating bags of dead puppies against a fence right now to hear what kind of sound it makes.

People follow morals for a number of different reasons, one of the most influential probably being because it's what their parents instilled in them. A large percentage of the time, the child will have a lot of the same perspectives on things in life as the parent, and this(along with any form of media) can always give us a good idea on where we stand morally, because often going with our parents is an out we'll take over other things.

Well, I don't know where quite to conclude. Legal will always win in Moral Vs Legal for me, I guess that makes me of low morale or something? I'm just the type of person who isn't really worried how I feel or anyone else feels about my actions as long as I'm not locked up according to our own judicial system. I guess morals are like pride and honor; both great to have, but neither very necessary to existence. Tag

Morals are relative. They're determined by what your family thinks, what everyone around you thinks, where you live, what country you live in, your religion, and many other things.

Well, I thought of something. You said that morals are great to have, but not necessary. If morals weren't necessary to some extent, wouldn't there be many more crimes and "bad" things happening? Cause there are some people that don't really care about breaking the law, but would never violate their own ethics.

We have morals because it is so deep within our culture and our basic humanity, just like Ray said it is too deep within your family we as humans are easily influenced by our peers to not have morals.

Also the morals we have is a belief and our basic life,if we didn't have morals we would be basically all the same person but we would have different figures.
