Lets face it, the Ps3 is not the hottest peice of machinery on the market. The ps3 was a hype machine when announced in E3 2005, many were looking forward to it. News came slowly and things seemed decent. 2006 brought some unexpected surprises, at CES the SIXAXIS was unvailed...BEHOLD! A WIRELESS PS2 CONTROLLER WITHOUT THE RUMBLE! But wait...whats this? It has tilt control? where have we heard this? The announcement was made, and many screamed "Rip-off". E3 rolled around, and Sony had their Pre-Show conference. Some games were announced...along with stuff that I have yet to see resurface (that card playing Eye-toy thing), but then came the price...Now the price is what killed Consumers in the biggining along with bad PR. But the cost to consumers is nothing compared to cost for developers. In order to make a dent a ps3 production, companies have to fork over more than double the costs last gen that comes to several millions on a single game. Some developers have gone on the record to say that Sony has grown arrogant and want them to do bad.
Sony has lost 2 Billion in their gaming division, and there is hardly any profit for 3rd parties if they release games for their system. Sure the ps3 has sold 3.3 Million world wide...but its vastly overshadowed by Wii (7.1 Mil) and 360 (9.7 Mil). Sony has lost some big exclusives. The only reliable games would be the 1st party titles. Sure they'll have a boost with FFXIII and VS XIII. Sony still has a decent fanbase in japan, but not even the Japanese have bought a million of the Consoles sold, even the PAL sales outsell the Japanese numbers, and that's sad for Sony. Some japanese developers might continue to jump ship. Sony is nearly on its last legs and this gen just started.
