Lets face it, the Ps3 is not the hottest peice of machinery on the market. The ps3 was a hype machine when announced in E3 2005, many were looking forward to it. News came slowly and things seemed decent. 2006 brought some unexpected surprises, at CES the SIXAXIS was unvailed...BEHOLD! A WIRELESS PS2 CONTROLLER WITHOUT THE RUMBLE! But wait...whats this? It has tilt control? where have we heard this? The announcement was made, and many screamed "Rip-off". E3 rolled around, and Sony had their Pre-Show conference. Some games were announced...along with stuff that I have yet to see resurface (that card playing Eye-toy thing), but then came the price...Now the price is what killed Consumers in the biggining along with bad PR. But the cost to consumers is nothing compared to cost for developers. In order to make a dent a ps3 production, companies have to fork over more than double the costs last gen that comes to several millions on a single game. Some developers have gone on the record to say that Sony has grown arrogant and want them to do bad.
Sony has lost 2 Billion in their gaming division, and there is hardly any profit for 3rd parties if they release games for their system. Sure the ps3 has sold 3.3 Million world wide...but its vastly overshadowed by Wii (7.1 Mil) and 360 (9.7 Mil). Sony has lost some big exclusives. The only reliable games would be the 1st party titles. Sure they'll have a boost with FFXIII and VS XIII. Sony still has a decent fanbase in japan, but not even the Japanese have bought a million of the Consoles sold, even the PAL sales outsell the Japanese numbers, and that's sad for Sony. Some japanese developers might continue to jump ship. Sony is nearly on its last legs and this gen just started.

sure 360 has been out a year ahead of the game. But if ps3 had half the followers it had with the ps2, then it would be doing fine. But its had a serious dry spell. And of course I dont own a Ps3, why get a system that offers me less than the competition at a higher price? Thats its major flaw.

where do they offer less? other than just the games!

you've forgoten, the PS2 is still putting out games, unlike the CG and Xbox which pretty much died, a few months after the Next Gen came out

but when the ps2 dries out, the PS3 will pick up

Sounds to me like you are trying to justify your $600 you spent on your George Foreman Grill, that plays games(if you own one). And when the GBA outsells your console something is wrong.

Here’s a shocker for you: The GameBoy Advance sold more units in April than PlayStation 3. The GBA sold 84,000 units while the PS3 sold only 82,000 units. The latest numbers from the NPD Group show that the DS and Wii are still the best selling consoles, with 471,000 and 360,000 units sold, respectively. The PS2 came in third with 194,000 units sold, followed by the PSP at 183,00 and the Xbox 360 at 171,000 units sold. The PS3 was beaten by pretty much every console besides the GameCube, and it’s hard to see how things can get worse for Sony’s new console these days.

this is a GAMING generation, potential buyers want games. Developers would rather support the Ps2 than the Ps3 becuase:
1. Ps2 is still has a lot of players and buyers
2. Development Costs are still A LOT lower than the Ps3's

Support for the Ps2 is still good, the ps3, not so much. There's actually a lot of multiplatforming from ps2 to wii, showing that developers are comparing the two.
xbox and gc are long forgotten, but thats okay because their successors of selling great, and decent enough for them to kill off the past systems. But Backwards compatibility still makes it great for people to enjoy past-gen goodness.

If the GBA is dead, than it would still be selling so good.

And you speak like Backwards compatibility was first done by Sony and the ps2.
Atari 7800 was the first, with the ability to play old 2600 games.
The idea has been done and thrown around if the formats are similar.

alright, so everyone thinks sony just stole ideas from the other concoles, but here's my question, Nintendo and mircosoft have have takin ideas from each other and sony too. so why is sony the only one being blamed for this?

I think ps3 might pickup.. but not for atleast another yr.. they just slugged behide and took too long to enter out on the market, where as wii and 360 came out earlier and gave users a chance to get them ahead of time. it alos gives game creators more time to create 1st releases for 360 and wii over ps3.. but personally. I rather get a wii or 360 over ps3 anyday...

Arrogance perhaps? Don't tell me I should buy something......give me a reason to spend $600 on a George Foreman Grill. And I need more than a GOW knockoff(Resistance), FF13, MGS4 and maybe KH3.

Oh? Hardly anything is truely original nowadays, things have to be Innovative to get recognition nowadays. Everyone Copies but they normally do it within a gaming gap, but if multiple things are done in the same generation, then it gets too obvious of the theft. Sony showed the DualShock 3, Nintendo introduced its Wiimote nad Nunchuck, a few months later, Sony scraps theres and comes out with a tilt controller. Nintendo receives praise for its virtual Console and Miichannel and usage. Sony announces that the PS3 can download past gen games like Wii's virtual console, and tried saying that they'd have Genesis games as well, and SEGE denounced this. Then they announce Home, which is much like Wii's Mii system and usage. So Sony has been going back on a lot of things, and have been making it too obvious.

that's why they call it a "Proto type"

Sure people made fun of it, but a lot of people liked the prototype more than the final. The Dualshock 3 actually showed an ounce of originality on Sony's part.

Another Downfall for Sony is the Ken Kutaragi, the Father of Playstation has stepped down as President and CEO of the Gaming division in place of Kaz "RIIIIIDDDDDGGGGGGEEEE RRRRRRRRRRAAAACCCEEEEEERRRRRR" Harai. This was a bad move becuase Kaz is more about the Software than the Actual Hardware tech.

Dude give the PS3 a bit more time to settle down, get some hot games + a lower price.
Its gonna beat the XBOX 360 by lengths.
Besides I dont think you can compare the Wii and the PS3 as they are two completely different systems for different games, different people etc.

Or the PS3 will just simply copy the 360 Elite.......

The rumors have finally been validated, for Sony have unveiled plans for an 80 gigabyte PS3 to hit stores in Korea on June 16. Retailing for the Korean equivalent of $556 (before tax), there has been nothing confirmed about a release in other countries, although it would seem likely. That said, a spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has come out to say that there are no current plans for a European release, at least. There's a surprise.

This is a change from Sony's original insistence that there were no plans to release a new version of the PS3. Evidentally, they have altered the deal, pray they do not alter it again. So far, Sony have said that the only difference between the Korean model and the worldwide console is the larger hard drive. While some extra giggles in your console are always nice, will Sony really want to start releasing more expensive versions of the PS3 round these parts?

Lower Price point alone would probably devastate Sony even more, if at the current price and sales, with even with profit of the ps2, the games division has still lost $2 Billion thanks to the Ps3.
Why not compare the Ps3 and the Wii? Their in the same market, this is a Gaming System, its supposed to be about the games. Sure if we compare chips and accessability we get two different machines, but in the end, it comes down to the games, and Sony hardly has any. A great emergance in games probably wont be untill late 2008 to 2009.
